Frequently Asked Questions

BETTER WORLD AGORA FOUNDATION

Let’s build together a better,
peaceful and happy world

Frequently Asked Questions

Version of the 11/06/18

This document answers the most frequently asked questions about the essential, but often implicit, aspects of the project.

Throughout our existence, we acquire knowledge, we live experiences and we develop skills. We thus improve our own understanding of the things in life that we perceive with clarity, relevance and precision.
If we do not learn, we do not know ; and we cannot tell the difference between right and wrong. We believe in true things, but also in false things, and we refuse to believe in false things, but also in true things.

1. WHAT IS THE VISION OF BETTER WORLD AGORA ?

The vision lies entirely in the logo :

Humanity is a big family,
we must take care of each other.
We must also take care of the Earth,
which is our common home and our only home.
Let us build together, for future generations,
a better, peaceful and happy world,
where all human beings will enjoy freedom, in peace and security.

2. WHAT IS THE MISSION OF BETTER WORLD AGORA ?

The mission is expressed in the title :

Let’s build together
a better, peaceful and happy world.

3. HOW COULD I PARTICIPATE IN BETTER WORLD AGORA ?

You will be able to participate in several ways :

-  By making donations in cash or in kind : once the initial investments have been made and the working capital raised, the donations received and the contributions of the members of the Foundation will be used in full for the mission devoted to the common good, sharing and solidarity. The consulting and training activities will cover the running costs of the structure.
-  Taking care of tasks as a volunteer : even if you are very motivated, we do not want your contribution to exceed 10% of your professional working time, the equivalent of 20 days per year.
-  By becoming a permanent full-time or part-time employee : you will work in teams of at least five people, in collective intelligence and constructive collaboration.
-  By offering patronage of pro bono skills in the context of Corporate and Social Responsibility (if you are a legal person, large or medium-sized company).
-  By practicing the right prices for your products and services (if you are a provider or sole proprietorship).

4. ARE THERE ANY PREREQUISITS OR SPECIAL CONDITIONS IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE ?

We refuse the status quo to continue. All our efforts are aimed at building a better, peaceful and happy world.
If all is well in your life, we are happy for it, and we sincerely wish you a beautiful and long personal, family, professional and social life.
Many human beings live according to high ethical and moral standards. Those who are believers build for themselves a better future life and, according to their faith, they will go to heaven or they will have a higher rebirth.

As far as we are concerned in the here and now, the current problems and challenges are our constant obsession and the object of our daily concerns. We absolutely want to innovate and transform the world.

We take as reference the crossing of the Jordan and the entry into the Promised Land told in the Bible.
Moses had sent twelve scouts across the Jordan to explore the land of Canaan. On their return, ten scouts advocate the abandonment of the crossing, rallying to their defeatism all the Hebrews that were already exhausted and anxious.
Only Joshua and Caleb were determined to cross the river to enter the Promised Land.
After forty years of waiting, Joshua and Caleb took the younger generationsacross, only after the death of the generations who had come out of Egypt.

5. WHAT IS THE PROMISED LAND OF THE 21ST CENTURY ?

We don’t know its name, but all of humanity will live in a better, peaceful and happy world, where human beings will enjoy freedom, in peace and security.
Science fiction, always inventive, has described multiple apocalyptic scenarios, with natural cataclysms and catastrophic battles on a planetary scale.

A narrow vision trivializes, mutilates and unintentionally reduces all projects, even the most ambitious and the best intentioned. Legitimate ambition requires conviction, strength and courage, to express itself in large-scale initiatives producing large-scale impacts. It also needs space to deploy and time to consolidate.

6. ACCORDING TO THE THREE CRITERIA OF JEAN-CLAUDE BIVER, ARE WE "THE FIRST" ?

It is obviously no : governments, local authorities, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, businesses, foundations, associations and committed people have been building a better world for a very long time, we do what they do and werely on their studies, their work and their experiences.

7. THEN ARE WE "UNIQUE" ?

It’s still no : we are a structured and hierarchical organization. Regular iterations in our actions and projects are needed to adapt to the ever-changing world.
We always keep in mind impermanence and interdependence.

8. FINALLY ARE WE "DIFFERENT" ?

The answer is yes : the guiding principle is diversity in UNITY, for us UNITY is essential, because humanity is ONE. The distinction is very subtle, but we are not the proponents of unity in DIVERSITY.
We collect scattered pieces to assemble the big puzzle, it is a patient work of integration of individuals and groups, security and the improvement of human interactions.
We have seen since the origins of humanity that separation leads to isolation, which leads to the stagnation, which leads to collapse. Civilizations and empires are born, develop, crack apart, fracture and divide until their final collapse, there was never an exception to this rule, and we are convinced that there will never be one. Human history gives us countless life lessons about what to do and what to avoid..

9. WHAT ARE THE IMPLEMENTED PRINCIPLES OF ACTION ?

We have five principles of action : shared vision, coordination in action, social cohesion, outstanding performance, sustainable growth.
In order to give the best of ourselves, we act with reasonable optimism based on five qualities to develop gradually and continuously : self-confidence, self-esteem, agility, taste for action, culture of success.
And whenever possible, we want to work in the flow state described by the psychologist MihályCsíkszentmihályi.

10. WHY IS IMPATIENCE NOT ADVISED ?

Impatience is the imperative need for immediate results, but can only be achieved by magic.
Impatient people always try to summarize in a short and unique sentence the whole complexity of a discipline or a project : open-heart surgery in one sentence, quantum physics in one sentence, artificial intelligence in one sentence, the global warming in one sentence, health for all in one sentence, education for all in one sentence, peace in the world in one sentence.

Even after careful consideration, we are unable to condense all of BETTER WORLD AGORA into one sentence.
The Italian proverb says : Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano.
And La Fontaine thus concludes The Lion and the Rat :
Patience and length of time
Do more than force or rage.

11. WHY TEAMS OF AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE ?

To avoid succumbing to the temptations of sterile selfishness and individual drift, we operate with the augmented RGOM model, which we call LRGOM.
After studying 2,141 teams, Yves Enrègle’s team drew the RGOM reading grid for the phenomena of power and dynamics of hierarchy :
1. The Maker, illustrated by Obelix
2. The Guide, illustrated by Asterix
3. The Organizer, illustrated by Abraracourcix
4. The Mobilizer, illustrated by Panoramix.

The function of the negative Mobilizer is illustrated by Assurancetourix.

For the function of Leader N-1 of the LRGOM model, we were inspired by the Vatican : the pope is elected by the cardinals gathered in conclave, it is a clear cooptation.
The pope, bishop of Rome, is successor to Peter and servant of Jesus.
Similarly, the N-1 Leader of our teams is elected by the top five team members, he is by no means "the" supreme leader and does not behave as such ; on the contrary, he serves the cause and the collective with fidelity and loyalty.
The members of each team practice universal human values and give meaning to their actions and lives. They find their own fulfillment for their own good and for the good of all.

12. ARE DISAGREEMENT OR REBELLION POSSIBLE ?

The answer is obviously positive. Sincerity and frankness are encouraged, censorship and self-censorship are discouraged.
Naturally, if deep disagreements arise and persist, there will inevitably be a break in mutual trust. Collectively we must then draw the consequences, without hesitation or procrastination that is harmful to the cause and collective action.

13. WHY KAIROS AND THE MUTUAL TRUST ?

Kairosisan Ancient Greek word which means the right, critical and opportune moment.
The Greek god Kairos is represented by a young man who has a tuft on his head. When he walks close to us, there are three possibilities :
– We do not see him ;
– We see him and we do nothing ;
– As he comes close, we hold out the hand, we seize his hair, and thus we seize the luck, the occasion, the opportunity.

We meet to deal with serious and vital things, it is only possible thanks to the mutual trust which unites us.

14. PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS TO WHICH WE HAVE NOT YET ANSWERED.

We cannot think of everything, all questions are welcome and we will respond as soon as possible.
