LOVE, SENSE AND AGENDA 2020
By deciding to implement the 17 Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Objectives in our professional and non-professional activities, we are working on a roadmap, a framework for action and track for the next 10 years.
In 2025 the 17 SDGs will be updated in Agenda 2040 which, in 2035, will be re-scheduled in Agenda 2050. This means that we will have roadmap, framework of action and tracks for the next 30 years.
The 17 SDGs, the 169 targets and the 232 indicators are precise and complex, but only have the technical dimension. In the quest for meaning in our actions and our lives, it is the acute awareness of working for the common good of humanity, the Earth and future generations that completely fills our lives. This is the moral dimension that overlooks contingent efforts and worries.
Nevertheless, we are not only human beings forced to earn our living from the sweat of our foreheads. The most essential in our hearts is refocusing on the fundamental goodness that is the inexhaustible source of energy to truly love and be truly loved. It is love that is the unique gateway to live true joy and pure happiness. The emotional dimension is essential necessity from birth: we need unconditional love and unwavering friendship to live fully by giving now and always protecting. We do our best only by taking care of ourselves and our loved ones.
Love embodied in proofs of love, respect, trust, solidarity, and responsibility are the Five Principles of Be the Love you want to see in the world. Sofia Stril-Rever created this formula by adapting the phrase attributed to Gandhi and she developed it in her book The Urgency to Love.
The three dimensions, emotional, moral, and technical, are intrinsically knotted in the decision and implementation on the ground of the 1 SDGs of the Agenda 2030, in the frame of the sustainable development of the territories of each country.
This is the great cause we are embracing for a decade of action, and we will take every opportunity to scale up and accelerate scaled-up actions that produce major impacts at the height of needs, problems and challenges, whether local or global.
